Formation, Inc. is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Redding, California.

ICU RN (Trauma/Neuro ICU) — Redding, CA
 

Position Summary:
Seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 30-bed ICU/Trauma ICU at an acute care Level 2 trauma center. Patient ratios run 1:1–2, with the majority of assignments at 1:2. This unit sees a high volume of trauma, neuro-strokes, and head injury patients — candidates must have hands-on experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies, or at minimum post-tPA patient experience. This is a fast-paced unit that requires strong critical care skills and the ability to hit the ground running.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care for trauma and neuro-critical patients, including ICP monitoring and ventriculostomy management
  • Titrate vasopressors and sedation drips
  • Complete a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite, day one (pass/fail)
  • Float to PCU, CICU, telemetry, or med-surg units as needed (in CICU, would carry an ICU patient, not open-heart)
  • Interpret own telemetry strips (GE monitors, unit secretary runs strips)
  • Work alongside 24/7 in-house Intensivist and 24/7 RT support

Requirements:

  • 2–3+ years of ICU/Trauma ICU experience required
  • Previous travel experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies required (or post-tPA patient experience at minimum)
  • ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS required; PALS preferred (required after 6 months if extending)
  • COVID vaccination required
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Additional Details:

  • Charting: Cerner
  • Charge Nurse and House Supervisor available 24/7 (do not carry patient assignments)
  • 1 Unit Tech covering all 30 beds
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • No standby/call requirement for travelers
  • Scrub color: navy
  • 1 day of unit-specific orientation

Shift: 12hr Nights, 6:45pm–7:15am, EOW, first to float
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: 09/22/2026
