What is an ice skating rink?

Ice skating rinks are specially prepared surfaces, either indoors or outdoors, that allow people to skate on ice. They are used for recreational skating, figure skating, ice hockey, and other ice sports. Rinks can be made of natural ice in cold climates or artificial ice created with refrigeration systems. Many ice skating rinks offer skate rentals, lessons, and various events for skaters of all ages and skill levels.

What jobs are there at an ice skating rink?

Jobs at an ice skating rink involve facility operations and guest services. A manager oversees all operations at an ice arena. In this position, you schedule ice time, create an operations budget, and hire employees. Ice rinks also have technicians whose duties focus on preparing and maintaining the ice. They also repair equipment and systems to regulation conditions and groom the ice. Finally, a rink has employees like instructors and customer service workers. Staff often work as part of a team, collaborating with supervisors and instructors to keep operations running smoothly. Additionally, being able to respond calmly and efficiently to accidents or emergencies is essential for this role.
