JOB SUMMARY
The Program Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of recreational programs and events offered by the Parks and Recreation Department and the Youth Services Bureau. This role involves direct interaction with program participants, assisting with program logistics, setting up and maintaining activity spaces, and ensuring the overall safety and engagement of participants. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, reliable, and enjoys working with people of all ages in a community-focused environment.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
  • Assist in organizing and delivering recreational activities, classes, and events for youth, adults, and seniors
  • Set up and break down activity areas, ensuring equipment and supplies are available and in good condition
  • Provide on-site support during programs to ensure safety, participation, and a positive experience for attendees
  • Greet and check in participants; maintain accurate attendance records
  • Support instructors and recreation staff in supervising participants and enforcing rules
  • Other related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Age 15 or older interested in working with children ages 3-13
