The maintenance team supports several operations both outdoors and indoors. Sprinker Recreation Center has recently completed Phase 1 of the outdoor remodel and the addition of hockey locker rooms with plans for additional improvements in the near future.

Your Future in this Role: You will get to be part of an integrated Central Region maintenance team that operates, maintains, and repairs the infrastructure of the Pierce County Parks system.
Your work will be instrumental in providing Pierce County residents with safe and enjoyable parks and facilities. You will be able to fill in at any park and shift within the Central Region. Success in this position also offers a great foundation for future professional growth within the Parks and Recreation department.
Core Daily Responsibilities: General Park maintenance duties such as opening/closing facilities, grounds maintenance, turf management, garbage/litter pick up and disposal, cleaning public restrooms, site and structure inspections, facilities maintenance, vandalism repair, and unauthorized encampment clearance. Be involved in ballfield, playground, trails, and irrigation systems maintenance. Performs specialized maintenance of ice rink.
Performs specialized maintenance of athletic fields, as well as daily upkeep of a variety of different landscapes throughout the park. Proficiency in using an automated Work Order system to retrieve assignments and document work performed. Minimum Qualifications Additional education or training may substitute for up to one year of related experience Two or more years work experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, construction, or maintenance trades Employees are subject to 24-hour on-call availability and must be able to work any shift at any location as required Preferred Qualifications: Experience in irrigation Experience with the maintenance of athletic fields Experience in event operations Possession of, or the ability to obtain may be required for some positions: Valid Washington State Driver's license Valid First Aid Certification including CPR Valid Washington State Pesticide License Satisfactory physical condition is required as indicated by a County-approved physical examination.
