Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) seeks an Athletic Facilities Services Assistant (AFSA) to support the Athletics Department and Plant & Property teams in maintaining safe, clean, and well-prepared athletic facilities.

A Day in the Life
The Athletic Facilities Services Assistant (AFSA) plays a hands-on role in ensuring NMH's athletic facilities are prepared, maintained, and ready to support practices, competitions, special events, and summer programming. During hockey season, this position oversees the day-to-day operation of the ice rink by maintaining high-quality ice surfaces, operating and caring for the ice resurfacer (Zamboni), and ensuring the facility is safe, clean, and prepared for student-athletes, coaches, officials, and visitors.
In addition to rink operations, the AFSA supports the Field House, Li Wrestling Center, and other athletic facilities by coordinating event set-up and breakdown, transitioning spaces between activities, maintaining athletic equipment, and performing preventative maintenance. This position works closely with coaches, officials, Plant & Property, Auxiliary Services, and other campus partners to support athletic events, tournaments, and summer camps. The successful candidate enjoys a varied, active workday, takes pride in maintaining exceptional athletic facilities, and contributes to NMH's mission by helping create an environment where students from diverse backgrounds can learn, compete, and thrive.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license required and ability to become certified to operate NMH buses and vans.
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace or similar computer applications.
  • Ability to observe and follow all school health and safety policies and procedures.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Certification to operate an ice resurfacer, or ability to obtain upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in ice rink operations, facilities management, athletic operations, or a related field.
  • Experience operating an ice resurfacer (Zamboni), or willingness to obtain training.
  • Experience working in an athletic or educational environment.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree.

The schedule will vary based on the athletic calendar and seasonal needs.
Must be flexible with weekly schedules; days/hours may vary.
Evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required.
40 hours a week.
Calendar year
Tuesday through Saturday, 11 AM - 7 PM is typical during the hockey season.
