DescriptionJob Summary
The Zamboni Driver is responsible for maintaining safe, high-quality ice surfaces for skating, hockey, and figure skating programs by operating ice resurfacing equipment and performing routine arena maintenance. This hands-on position part-time position is crucial to the overall success of arena operations and customer satisfaction.
Ice Maintenance
- Operate ice resurfacing equipment (Zamboni or Olympia) to clean and resurface the ice sheet before, during, and after sessions.
- Monitor ice quality and make adjustments to water levels, blade depth, and edging as needed.
- Perform edging, shaving, and patching to maintain ice integrity.
- Maintain logs of resurfacings, ice temps, and equipment maintenance.
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as cleaning locker rooms, lobbies, restrooms, and player benches.
- Monitor building systems (lighting, refrigeration, HVAC, and fire alarms) and report issues to management.
- Assist with snow removal from ice resurfacer bays and outdoor walkways.
- Support setup and breakdown for events, games, or rentals.
Equipment Care
- Conduct pre- and post-use checks on the ice resurfacer.
- Clean, refuel, and safely store equipment after each use.
- Assist with routine maintenance or minor repairs.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort with machinery.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and operate equipment responsibly.
