What is an IC?

ICs, or Individual Contributors, are employees who focus on executing specialized tasks within an organization rather than managing people. They are experts in their field and are responsible for delivering specific results and contributing to projects, often working independently or as part of a team. ICs can be found in many industries, such as engineering, design, and research, and play a crucial role in driving technical and creative innovation within a company.

What are the typical collaboration patterns for an integrated circuit design engineer within a semiconductor company?

As an IC Design Engineer, you will frequently collaborate with cross-functional teams, including verification engineers, layout designers, and product engineers. Regular meetings and design reviews are common to ensure all aspects of the design meet the necessary specifications and timelines. You may also work closely with firmware or software teams to ensure proper integration of the IC into the final product. Effective communication and teamwork are crucial, as the IC development process is highly iterative and relies on input from various technical experts.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an industrial chemist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Industrial Chemist, you need a solid background in chemistry, analytical techniques, and laboratory procedures, generally supported by a bachelor's or higher degree in chemistry or chemical engineering. Familiarity with laboratory instruments (such as spectrometers and chromatographs), safety protocols, and relevant industry certifications is often required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with teams and ensure product quality. These skills are crucial for developing safe, efficient, and innovative chemical processes in industrial settings.

What is the difference between Ic vs Network Technician?

AspectIcNetwork Technician
Required CertificationsCompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA (sometimes)CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA
Work EnvironmentIT departments, data centers, officesTelecom companies, corporate networks, data centers
Industry UsageIT, tech support, hardware maintenanceNetworking, telecommunications, infrastructure
Common Search/ComparisonYesYes

Both Ic and Network Technician roles involve working with computer hardware and networks, often requiring similar certifications like CompTIA A+ and Cisco CCNA. While Ic may focus more on hardware and basic network support, Network Technicians typically handle more complex network configurations and troubleshooting. The work environments overlap significantly, especially in IT and data centers, making these roles closely related but with different emphasis areas.

How do you become an intelligence analyst?

To become an intelligence analyst, candidates typically need a bachelor's degree in fields like international relations, political science, or security studies. Relevant skills include analytical thinking, proficiency with data analysis tools, and often a security clearance, which may require background checks and specialized training. Gaining experience through internships or entry-level positions in intelligence or security agencies can also be beneficial.

Job description

Be visionary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated provides enabling technologies for industrial growth markets that require advanced technology and high reliability. These markets include aerospace and defense, factory automation, air and water quality environmental monitoring, electronics design and development, oceanographic research, deepwater oil and gas exploration and production, medical imaging and pharmaceutical research.

We are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins.

Job Description

Teledyne LeCroy's products need to be the fastest, cleanest and most flexible to handle the challenges of characterizing the advanced electronics being developed across the world. Teledyne LeCroy's custom integrated circuits sit at the heart of our instruments. To make the best instruments, we need chips that perform at the edge of what is theoretically possible. To make these chips we hire the most talented and creative IC designers in the industry. If that is you, keep reading.

The Design Work

The IC Designer will design custom integrated circuits primarily using Silicon Germanium BiCMOS technologies. These custom circuits will be used in Teledyne LeCroy's oscilloscopes and probes. We pride ourselves in achieving the highest level of technical performance out of each of our designs. The IC designer will be expected to leverage a strong technical foundation and creative problem-solving skills to find new ways to tackle engaging technical problems.

The designs will encompass all aspects of oscilloscope acquisitions systems from amplification and signal conditioning to sampling, clocking and triggering. Some examples of design characteristics are as follows:

  • Precise DC accuracy
  • Wideband operation from DC up to mm-wave frequencies
  • Optimization of frequency responses, return losses, noise, distortion, jitter and many other signal quality characteristics
  • Stability analysis
  • Temperature stability
  • Balancing power vs performance
  • ESD protection
  • Design for manufacturability and reliability

The Tools

The IC Design Engineer will primarily use Cadence tools (Virtuoso, AMS, SpectreRF, Explorer, Assembler, Quantus, EMX, Physical Verification System) to complete the design tasks. Ansys HFSS may also be used. Skill and Python scripting are used heavily to improve efficiency and expose new capabilities during the design process.

Responsibilities:

The IC Designer will primarily work on chip or cell level detailed design. They will take designs from concept through tape out. Layout support will be available, but IC Designer is responsible for overseeing the layout such that their design meets all performance targets.

The Team

The IC Designer will work together with a team of experienced and talented designers. The environment has been curated over the past 60 years to cater to people who love technology and want to continually build upon their skillset. There are plenty of experienced people to learn from who are happy to share their knowledge. At the same time, the IC Designer will not be working on cookie cutter problems. They will be solving new problems with the support of an experienced team.

Qualifications:

  • 2-10 years of BiCMOS IC design experience with some or multiple tape outs, meaningful personal responsibility, and successful results. Recent PhD recipients with strong design and tape out experience are eligible to apply.
  • BS, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering
  • Thorough understanding of fundamental circuit design concepts such as passive network analysis, bipolar devices, CMOS devices, time and frequency domain analysis, feedback, stability, transmission lines, matching, noise, distortion, compression, temperature sensitivity and sampling theory
  • Thorough understanding of real-world circuit design considerations such as bipolar and CMOS device structure and limitations, thermal sensitivity, parasitics, electromigration, breakdown, ESD susceptibility and reliability
  • Understanding of RF design topics such as S-Parameters and matching networks
  • Proficiency with the tools we use or comparable tools (Virtuoso, AMS, SpectreRF, Explorer, Assembler, Quantus, EMX, Physical Verification System, Skill, Python, HFSS)
  • Experience designing wideband circuits from DC to mm-wave frequencies
  • Enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and learning new concepts
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Salary Range:

$113,600.00-$151,400.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate.
