Position: WebSphere/ Middleware Admin

Location: Vienna. VA (Locals Only)

Duration: 5 months+

BASIC PURPOSE:

The WebSphere Middleware administrator will perform the following:

Installation, configuration and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a Websphere environment

Support the Service Transition Branch and its customers by enforcing standards, reviewing and processing Requests for Changes, building change schedules, executing software migration requests, supporting Release implementations, and supporting Service Transition automated systems and other Configuration Management Databases

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbents will be assigned specific duties related to Service Transition Processes and must be familiar with the following to provide support based on business needs:

Serves as administrator for Service Transition automated systems; monitors the availability and optimal performance of Service Transition automated systems

Install, configure, tune and support WebSphere Application Server

Participates in upgrades and customizations of Service Transition automated systems ; Setup load balancing, clustering, and failover

Develop automation tools for Password management, Monitoring, Configuration and Deployment

Responds to questions/issues from other IT areas (e.g., Developers/Analysts, Testers, Project Managers) and other customers regarding Service Transition principles, procedures, and tools

Maintains and documents version control and code base changes

Executes requests for change and other tasks relating to software migration

Work with Vendor Support to assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues (open service requests and follow up with Vendor Support)

Develop support documentation and train team members

Designs reports and metrics to measure effectiveness of Service Transition processes and systems

Be available 24/7 to support staff in case of issues

QUALIFICATIONS -- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Required

Hands on experience in the installation, configuration, tuning/sizing, clustering, deployment and problem resolution of Websphere Middleware Components

Ability to use or develop tools to automate maintenance, configuration changes, password changes, deployments and migrations of Websphere Middleware components

Familiarity with Rational BuildForge, BPM and Splunk

Experience creating scripts (wsadmin, shell, perl, ant, Jython, Python, Jacl)

Ability to install and configure Websphere MQ servers. Perform MQ System Management, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and maintenance

Ability to perform administrative tasks, download and upgrade firmware, create and manager user accounts and domains on the Datapower Appliances

Experience in application development that demonstrates thorough knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC)

Desired

Advanced or College degree, coursework, or formal training in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field

Possess ITIL v2 Service Manager or ITIL v3 Expert certification

Understanding of all Service Transition automated systems, including ChangeMan ZMF, Dimensions, TeamStudio, Buildforge or Serena Deployment Automation & Release Manager

Knowledge of Navy Federal operations, processes, and procedures
