About the role you're considering

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Automation Engineer to lead the migration and optimization of enterprise mainframe automation solutions. This role is focused on transitioning from CA OPS/MVS to IBM Tivoli Systems Automation for z/OS and from CA Automation Point to IBM Systems Automation for Integrated Operations Management (SAIOM). You will play a critical role in improving operational efficiency, system availability, and automation maturity within a complex z/OS environment. Working closely with the Automation and Operations teams, you will design and implement policy-based automation strategies that reduce manual effort and enhance system responsiveness. While this role does not directly impact application development, it has significant influence on automation strategy and operational excellence.

Your role
  • Lead migration initiatives from CA OPS/MVS to IBM Tivoli Systems Automation for z/OS and CA Automation Point to IBM SAIOM
  • Configure and implement IBM Systems Automation solutions, including policy-based automation frameworks
  • Develop and maintain automation rules, REXX execs, and Policy Database (PDB) configurations
  • Support installation, configuration, and integration of IBM automation products
  • Partner with operations teams to optimize system startup, shutdown, and recovery processes
  • Drive proactive automation strategies to ensure high availability and system performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related production issues
  • Document configurations, migration processes, and operational procedures clearly for stakeholders
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to continuously improve automation capabilities and practices
Your skills and experience
  • 5+ years of mainframe operations experience (z/OS) in operations, support, consulting, or service roles
  • Advanced experience with IBM Tivoli Systems Automation for z/OS
  • Advanced expertise in CA OPS/MVS
  • Proven track record in z/OS automation migration projects
  • Strong proficiency in: TSO/ISPF for system interaction and management, JCL (Job Control Language), REXX scripting
  • Working knowledge of System Automation Policy Database (PDB)
  • Experience with NetView for z/OS

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is: $62,874    $147,504
