Job description

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Automation Engineer to join our client team and  support enterprise-scale IBM Z environments. In this role, you will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions across complex z/OS infrastructures, helping ensure system stability, resiliency, and seamless operations in high-availability environments.

You will collaborate closely with infrastructure and mainframe engineering teams to build scalable automation workflows, improve operational efficiency, and support mission-critical business systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation workflows using Broadcom OPS/MVS and System State Manager
  • Develop and optimize REXX scripts for automation, monitoring, and operational processes
  • Configure and support automation failover capabilities across multi-site environments
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and mainframe teams to design and implement automation solutions
  • Gather business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable automation designs
  • Troubleshoot production incidents, batch processing failures, and system issues
  • Analyze system behavior and identify opportunities to improve reliability, resiliency, and automation coverage
  • Follow change management processes, including code reviews and version control using Git
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
  • Support knowledge sharing, training, and team enablement initiatives
Requirements
  • Proven experience working with Mainframe / IBM Z environments in enterprise organizations
  • Strong knowledge of z/OS operating systems and automation concepts
  • Hands-on experience with Broadcom OPS/MVS, System State Manager, or similar automation platforms
  • Advanced expertise in REXX scripting
  • Practical experience with COBOL, CICS, DB2 or IMS, and JCL
  • Experience supporting production environments, including batch processing, incident management, and operational reliability
  • Experience working with mainframe engineering and infrastructure teams in complex environments
  • Understanding of high-availability, disaster recovery, and multi-site architectures
  • Experience with Git and code review practices
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
