Job description

SAIC is currently seeking creative, dedicated, motivated, career and customer-oriented professionals for the role of a Senior Enterprise Architect, to fulfill their career goals and objectives while delivering mission excellence on programs of national importance with our large Enterprise Application Support Program. The selected candidate will provide overall support for architecting and building solutions for Mainframe Modernization including Migration and Transformation of Legacy Applications to modern Infrastructure/Architecture including the Cloud. The selected candidate will be a Trusted Technical Advisor to the SAIC Program Manager (PM) and the supported team to be a thought leader with expertise in technical areas, specializing in Enterprise Architecture with specialization in Open Database technologies, Cloud and associated platforms and tools. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Overall Support:
    • Serves as a trusted technical advisor to the Program Manager and the supported team
    • Provide technical guidance and advice regarding IT systems in general
    • Implement governance and control as well as standards across the portfolio
    • Tracking, monitoring, and updating status on technology (e.g., cloud, AI/ML) services and architecture
  • Modernization & Migration Support:
    • Provide Technical guidance and Expert advice in areas of Mainframe Modernization, including Migration to Cloud, etc.
    • Provide Advisory support on IT applications architecture with the latest technologies (e.g., Cloud, AI/ML, GenAI, LLM, etc.), validity, applicability, and relevance
    • Engage in defining, developing, and keeping current Agile/SDLC engineering and architecture artifacts and standards
    • Provide oversight of Agile/SDLC reviews, including change management to ensure compliance with standards and required guidance
    • Recommend solutions for unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions, which are highly innovative and ingenious relating to both IT Infrastructure and Applications Architecture
    • Maintain a library of PMO documents and build a repository of project templates for both technical and management to support the project managers
    • Supporting portfolio, program, project-level business process analysis, mapping, improvements, reporting, market research, and internal outreach and communications
    • Translate business processes into workflows and dashboards, where needed
  • Enterprise Database Support:
    • Design and implement effective database structures and models to store, retrieve, and analyze data
    • Develop, construct, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines to collect, process, and integrate data from various sources
    • Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data consistency and quality
    • Integrate data from different sources, ensuring consistency, reliability, and accuracy
    • Develop data APIs and automation scripts to streamline data integration and workflows
    • Monitor and optimize database and data processing system performance
    • Conduct performance tuning and troubleshoot data issues
  • General Team Support:
    • Provide Mentoring and Training Support to Junior or Mid-level Application Developers and Database Engineers, as needed

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 14 years or more experience with a Bachelor's degree (4 years experience in lieu of degree)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust requiring U.S. Citizenship or Green Card
  • 5+ years technical and/or management experience supported industry and/or Government Sector for Mainframe Modernization and Cloud Migration initiatives at an enterprise level
  • Expert level understanding of overall Mainframe Systems Migration & Transformation
  • Expert level understanding of Enterprise Database Management Systems in general and Open Databases in particular
  • Knowledge and understanding of IBM Mainframe and Open Systems and applications and database architecture
  • Experience with IT governance in general
  • Broad experience and understanding to be able to provide sound technical advice to the Program Manager on a range of topics
  • Expert in enterprise architecture, strategy development and enterprise solutions
  • Expert-level understanding of core systems engineering and analysis disciplines and processes
  • Expert-level proficiency with use of architecting to support senior level enterprise decision making
  • Expert-level understanding of Data Management and Migration
  • Hands-on experience with Agile Development
  • Knowledge Discovery and Migration tools
  • Experience working closely with key customer US Federal Agencies or large Commercial Enterprise, including strong knowledge of their domain and strong professional networks

Desired:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of implementing an Enterprise Architecture framework in a federal Agency/Department is preferred
  • Prior work experience with Treasury/Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Agency applications architecture and development is preferred
