Potelco, Inc. seeks a skilled Vac Truck Operator to join our team at our Sumner, WA location. This is a union position; all employees must meet IBEW Local requirements and maintain good standing.
The Vac Truck Operator is responsible for the safe transportation and operation of the vacuum truck to and from job sites, operating the machine in a safe and skillful manner, and assisting the crew as needed to successfully complete each job.
Pay: $34.60-$60.85/hr, depending on experience
What You'll Do
  • Operate the vacuum truck and all associated heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Drive vehicle safely, following all rules of the road, DOT regulations, and company policies.
  • Ensure contents and equipment are properly secured during transportation.
  • Perform daily vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
  • Follow all on-site safety procedures and comply with OSHA, WISHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Maintain the vacuum truck, tools, and equipment in clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
  • Communicate effectively with Foremen, coworkers, and customers.
  • Prepare required reports, including time records and job orders.
  • Assist the crew in all capacities and perform additional duties as directed by the Foreman.

What You'll Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement.
  • Experience operating a vacuum truck.
  • Clean driving record (no more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong focus on quality, safety, and time management.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours), regularly lift 75 pounds, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screenings.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with electric utility or EPC construction.
  • Tanker endorsement on CDL.
  • Forklift, Flagging, and First Aid/CPR certifications.
  • Experience working around high-voltage electrical systems.

Compensation Range
The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $34.60/Hr. - USD $60.85/Hr. depending on experience and qualifications.
