Schedule:                     Varies with significant evening/weekend shifts in accordance with incoming show/event schedules and work calls
Location:                       On-Site in the Music Hall at Fair Park
Compensation:          $44.06/hour; approximately 600 hours anticipated annually
Desired Start:             September 1, 2026

Job Summary:

Join a team of expert and well qualified theater technicians serving as department heads for all touring Broadway as well as concerts, comedy, and other major ticketed events in the Music Hall at Fair Park. The Head of Wardrobe is responsible for oversight of wardrobe and laundry needs backstage-ensuring each of those functions and individuals working in the department perform smoothly and efficiently within the resources provided. The Head of Wardrobe is expected to lead the wardrobe and laundry crews for load-ins/outs, show runs, and special projects and is responsible for ensuring their fellow technicians are operating effectively, safely, and following company and show guidelines.

Essential functions:

• Be present and fully engaged in the hours set forward by the production management and the call steward for events/performances and all maintenance/work calls
• Oversight, coordination, and maintenance of wardrobe and laundry during productions and events in residence
• Oversight and coordination of all wardrobe and laundry department stagehands.
• Coordination with hair/wigs and makeup department head and stagehands
• Acquisition and setup of supplies and equipment for backstage areas.
• In coordination with the Head or Props, organize, set up, and distribute dressing room amenities including furniture, z-racks, mini-fridges, space heaters per event requests.
• Maintain regular inventory checks and generate schedule for routine maintenance of department equipment.
• Provide clear and regular communication with stage managers, production technicians, and production management to ensure the smooth functioning of operations
• Communicate politely, positively, and professionally with the large and diverse visiting artists, technicians, and other backstage and onstage personnel.
• Provide the most direct oversight and attention to maintaining the safety of wardrobe and laundry technicians, other production staff, and performers.
• Supervise hair, makeup, and wardrobe technicians in production duties during load-ins, work calls, rehearsals, performances, load-outs, and laundry or maintenance calls.
• Troubleshoot wardrobe and laundry equipment in efficient and timely manner
• Operate equipment such as sewing machines, washers/dryers, steamers, irons, etc.
• Attend requested production meetings and production post-mortems and provide constructive feedback to improve wardrobe and overall backstage function for future shows.
• Assist in other production departments with projects as time and needs allow. Examples include  build, paint, or install scenic elements; hang, circuit or focus electric or lighting elements, lift and move objects for storage or other needs.

Qualifications:

• Five years experience in professional technical theater - with at least two years experience overseeing hair/wigs, makeup, and or wardrobe/laundry functions for Broadway tours.
• Experience in industrial laundry, sewing skills, costume repair and maintenance.
• Familiarity with and ability to use all of the tools necessary to perform duties.
• Experience reading and interpreting run sheets, technical documents, construction and design drawings, technical riders, etc.
• Demonstrated fluency in Microsoft Office software: primarily Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Demonstrated time management skills: ability to perform well under pressure, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• Three years experience overseeing a small crew as assigned
• Reliable transportation to and from the Music Hall

Physical Requirements:

• Mobility: ability to stand, bend, crawl, reach, carry, climb ladders, stairs
• Safely lifting loads of 50 pounds by oneself, lifting 100-200 pounds with two or three people
• Visual acuity to distinguish color, texture, and patterns
