Job Summary:
Seeking a Payloads Field Service Engineer to provide real-time operational and maintenance support for advanced communications and sensor payload systems. The role involves troubleshooting, fault isolation, technical coordination, and supporting flight operations for airborne communication and payload systems in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time support for flight operations and maintenance related to communications and payload systems including MFAS Radar, EO/IR, airborne recorder, and Link 16.
  • Perform fault isolation, troubleshooting, remediation, and issue resolution for airborne systems.
  • Coordinate with site leadership to ensure Maintenance Action Forms (MAFs) are completed and tracked.
  • Follow and update technical procedures and checklists to ensure operational success.
  • Communicate complex technical issues with local teams, Responsible Engineers (REs), Main Operating Bases (MOBs), and Degrader Action Cell (DAC).
  • Support aircrew with troubleshooting techniques and operational analysis.
  • Assist with trend analysis and operational reporting.
  • Support voice communications, networking systems, and additional interfaces at operating bases.
  • Develop expertise across supported sensor, communication, and payload systems.
  • Support operations in a full-time onsite environment with rotating schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Training & Travel:

  • Initial 6+ months training assignment in San Diego, CA with travel to Baltimore, MD and Jacksonville, FL.
  • Final assignment location: Mayport, Florida
  • Up to 10% travel required
  • No remote work available

Basic Qualifications – Principal Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years of related experience, OR
  • Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience, OR
  • PhD with 1+ year of experience
  • Experience with Linux systems, troubleshooting, and engineering tools
  • Familiarity with payload operations and communications/networking systems
  • Ability to obtain DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (Security+, CCNA, CISSP, etc.)
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI
  • Ability to obtain SAP/PAR program access

Basic Qualifications – Senior Principal Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8+ years of related experience, OR
  • Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience, OR
  • PhD with 3+ years of experience
  • Strong experience supporting communications, networking, and payload systems
  • Ability to obtain required security certifications and clearances

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Active DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification
  • Experience with MQ-4C sensor and communication payloads
  • Experience with network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
  • System Administrator experience
  • Field operations and maintenance support experience
  • Knowledge of MPO/TC operator systems.
