Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Calypso Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and modernization of enterprise trading technology solutions supporting Capital Markets. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Nasdaq Calypso, OTC derivatives, financial market integrations, and enterprise application architecture.

This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can architect scalable solutions, mentor engineering teams, and drive modernization initiatives across front, middle, and back-office trading platforms while leveraging modern cloud and DevSecOps technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise solutions built on the Nasdaq Calypso platform.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Product, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance trading solutions.
  • Configure, customize, and extend Calypso modules supporting multiple asset classes.
  • Design and develop modern service-oriented and API-driven applications.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and drive engineering best practices across development teams.
  • Lead solution architecture discussions and ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Integrate Calypso with financial market utilities, market data providers, and enterprise platforms.
  • Design highly scalable, maintainable, and resilient distributed applications.
  • Support production releases, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and platform enhancements.
  • Mentor development teams and promote engineering excellence and innovation.
  • Implement secure software development practices and contribute to DevSecOps initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 7 years of hands-on experience supporting Nasdaq Calypso.
  • Strong expertise configuring and implementing Calypso for OTC derivatives across the trading lifecycle.
  • Deep experience with Interest Rates, Commodities, FX, FX Options, and Equity Derivatives.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Collateral Management
    • General Ledger Accounting
    • ISDA SIMM
    • SWIFT Processing
  • Experience integrating Calypso with:
    • DTCC SDR
    • FedWire
    • Bloomberg

  • Strong Java development experience.
  • Experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, MQ, ETL, and enterprise integration.

  • Experience working in Linux/UNIX environments.
  • Strong scripting skills using Unix Shell.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Hands-on experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Financial Services, Capital Markets, or Investment Banking experience.
