Staff Product Manager, Core Apps

NetBox Labs

Remote

$205K - $225K/yr

Full-time

Re-posted 8 hours ago

Job description

At NetBox Labs, our mission is to make it easier to build and manage complex networks. As a product company, we do that by developing innovative software for network professionals delivered on-premises and in the cloud.
We are seeking a Staff Product Manager to join our Core product team, embedded alongside senior product and engineering stakeholders. You will own the open source community presence, data model evolution, Custom Objects, and Asset Lifecycle and critically, you will drive how NetBox ships as a commercial product, not just as an open source release. Reporting to the VP of Product, you will serve as the connective tissue between Core Engineering, Customer Success, and the downstream product teams building on top of NetBox Core.
This role requires someone who can operate at the intersection of open source community stewardship and commercial product delivery, bridging a team with deep OSS roots toward the end-to-end ownership model our customers and business depend on. It is a role for someone with strong technical depth, sharp instincts for cross-functional influence, and the disposition to drive cultural and process change in an engineering organization.
What You'll Do
  • Own how NetBox Core ships into commercial products partnering with NBC, NBE, and CS teams to ensure releases are planned, communicated, and delivered in ways that treat internal teams as first-class customers
  • Own the NetBox open source community presence including GitHub issue triage, contributor engagement, release communication, and managing the expectations of a global practitioner audience
  • Drive the roadmap for data model evolution and the NetBox API surface making principled decisions about backward compatibility, extensibility, and the downstream consequences of breaking changes across integrations, automations, and customer extensions
  • Own products and features from strategy through GA and iteration translating enterprise customer signal into scoped, shippable work
  • Engage directly with customers and prospects to understand how they extend and rely on NetBox Core, and translate those needs into durable product decisions
  • Collaborate closely with senior product stakeholders on Core platform capabilities including Designs, Branching, and Changes contributing to direction without owning every surface
  • Partner with PMs across Assurance, Discovery, Integrations, and Cloud / Enterprise to ensure Core investments serve the full product portfolio
  • Contribute to pricing and packaging strategy for Core capabilities, identifying which features differentiate commercial tiers

What We're Looking For
  • 7-10+ years of product management experience in B2B software, with at least 3+ years owning infrastructure, developer tools, or other deeply technical products
  • Demonstrated track record of driving process or cultural change in engineering teams, you have done this before, you know it takes more than good ideas, and you have the disposition to see it through
  • Comfortable in a codebase, you can read a pull request, engage substantively on a technical architecture doc, and hold your own in a room full of engineers
  • Strong API instincts, you understand REST and GraphQL design, versioning tradeoffs, backward compatibility, and what makes an API surface developer-friendly
  • Systems thinking at the data layer, you understand that a schema decision is a contract, and you reason carefully about how model changes ripple into integrations, automations, and customer extensions built on top
  • Demonstrated experience with open source products or communities, you understand contributor dynamics, issue triage at scale, and the trust relationships that separate good OSS product management from bad
  • Strong cross-functional influence, able to drive alignment across engineering, CS, design, and GTM without positional authority, and able to hold a position when you're right
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure where none exists

Bonus Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience as a network engineer, DevOps engineer, or software engineer
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure concepts, devices, interfaces, IP management, circuit management, or similar domains
