Job description

Description

Join the KFI Team in Lincoln!

Are you energetic, creative, and love connecting with people? Looking for a job that's more than just a job? KFI wants to hear from you!

We're a Maine-based nonprofit on a mission: to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living full, independent lives in their communities. Our team is made up of dedicated, fun-loving, and compassionate individuals-and we're growing!

At KFI, no two days are the same. If you're someone with a great sense of humor, a strong work ethic, and a desire to make a real difference, we'd love to talk to you. Your ideas matter here-and your work will have an impact.

I am a 53-year-old man, who lives in my own apartment in Lincoln. I am looking for a support person who is creative, fun and flexible. I love sports and will want to talk about them with you. I love music and like to sing karaoke at a local establishment. I may also want to go hear live music. I like to go to the High Tide Restaurant in Bangor for dinner on a night where there is a concert at the Waterfront. I will sit outside after my meal and listen to the music. I love tv, especially the Golden Girls. I like to play games on my tablet. I am very social and love to interact with people. I need a person to support the decisions I make about my life. I don't want support staff who will tell me what to do. I want to maintain control. I need someone who will focus on me and only respond to their phone for emergencies. I need someone who will deal with their personal concerns outside of work, not with me. I need support with household tasks and budgeting. These are not my favorite things to be responsible for, but help me to understand their importance and support me to follow through with these tasks. Let's sit at the table together and work on this so I know where my money goes and what I have left to budget. I need support with coming up with a grocery list and ideas for new meals. Maybe you can lend a hand and we work on tasks together.  I have some local friends and friends out of town I want to remain in contact with. I need reminders and help with sending messages to my friends out of town and I visit my local friends weekly. I want someone who will support me with living the best life.
