Job description

Inova Health is looking for a dedicated Wound Care & Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Registered Nurse (RN) to join the team. This role will be PRN, on an as-needed basis. Travel is required to any of our three HBO locations, listed below.

Wound Care & Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities:

  • Comfortability with a variable schedule and traveling between locations: Inova Wound Healing Centers - Fair Oaks, Lansdowne, & Mount Vernon.
  • Flexes between hyperbaric therapy and wound care based on staffing needs.
  • Responsible for the provision of comprehensive care to patients requiring hyperbaric oxygen therapy. 
  • Performs essential duties necessary to clinic or non-acute operations to include taking vitals, stocking exam rooms, giving vaccines, blood draws, etc.
  • Formulates plans of care based on trends of similar patients including patient education and discharge planning. Identifies variances from expected outcomes. Evaluates patient outcomes and makes revisions to plans of care.
  • Collaborates with patients/families to identify realistic desired outcomes. Adapts standards and guidelines for individual patients. Tailors and prioritizes caring practice to individual needs including cultural, ethical and spiritual needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional healthcare needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options, end of life options). Responds to changes in patients' needs and provides holistic caring.
  • Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care. Determines immediate priorities and offers solutions for problems. Works with the team to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Documents all patient care activities as per documentation standards. Assists the healthcare team with the documentation process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree. If RN has an Associate's Degree, within 2 years of date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1.) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend 2.) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date 3.) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 4.) Complete BSN within 5 years of start date
  • Certification: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association; Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: HBO experience and can independently support hyperbaric services; wound care experience/training to assist when HBO demand is lower
