Reports To: General Manager

Position Summary

CoCo Commanders (Assistant Managers) are crucial in driving operational excellence and contributing to the overall success and profitability of CoCo Playa. As a key member of our Hype Squad, the Assistant Manager leads with energy, accountability, and heart. Through strong leadership, effective delegation, efficient scheduling, and clear communication, CoCo Commanders help create an exceptional experience for both our custies and our crew.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership amp; Team Development
  • Lead by example, modeling CoCo Playa’s values, culture, and service standards
  • Support, coach, and motivate crew members to perform at their best
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team members
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment
Operations amp; Execution
  • Assist in overseeing daily shop operations to ensure smooth, efficient service
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and presentation of all coffee and cookie products
  • Enforce food safety, cleanliness, and health standards at all times
  • Maintain attention to detail across opening, closing, and shift transitions
Scheduling amp; Labor Management
  • Support scheduling efforts to ensure proper staffing and labor efficiency
  • Assist with shift coverage, call-outs, and schedule adjustments as needed
  • Help manage labor costs while maintaining excellent customer service
Customer Experience
  • Deliver and uphold an outstanding, hype-worthy customer experience
  • Address customer concerns professionally and promptly
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere that keeps custies coming back
Communication amp; Organization
  • Act as a communication bridge between the crew and management
  • Ensure policies, updates, and expectations are clearly communicated
  • Maintain organization of shift notes, checklists, and operational tools
Business Support
  • Assist the General Manager in meeting sales, cost, and profitability goals
  • Help with inventory counts, ordering, and waste reduction
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and bring solutions forward
Qualifications
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in food service, coffee, or retail preferred
