Job description

Dental Hygiene Instructor

This position will be responsible for delivering all levels of the Dental Hygiene program classes. Duties include, but are not limited to, teaching classroom, clinical, and laboratory sessions, curriculum development/restructuring, committee assignments, student academic advising, student recruitment, assessment of student learning, responsibility for equipment, materials, and supplies, review of adjunct faculty applications and credentials, and budget management.

Job duties include demonstrating IWCC's core mission, vision, and values, following the class schedule, preparing for each class session, complying with IWCC policies and procedures, promoting quality education programs, developing and revising course and program curricula, assessing student learning outcomes, collaborating with the department to analyze assessment data, contributing to the evaluation and revision of General Education Learning Outcomes, participating in meetings, organizing and teaching labs, completing instructor training, pursuing professional development, exhibiting a positive and professional demeanor, undertaking additional duties as assigned, promoting academic integrity, making oneself available to answer student questions, helping students achieve their educational and career goals, maintaining confidentiality, implementing accommodations for ADA compliance, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include being a dental hygienist who is a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation and possesses a Bachelor's degree or higher degree, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong computational ability, strong organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, proficient use of Microsoft Office products, ability to read, write and speak English fluently, enthusiasm and dedication, ability to function collaboratively, professional in communications, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness, positive attitude, ability to maintain strict confidentiality, self-starter with the ability to perform with little or no direct supervision, ability to pass a background check, demonstrated understanding of Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accreditation standards, knowledge and skill in educational theory and methodology, previous student advising and counseling experience preferred, ability to communicate and maintain positive working relationships, and ability to create a classroom environment conducive to optimal learning.

Physical demands include ability to occasionally lift 10 pounds, sit or stand for extended periods of time, and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and use a phone. Reading, writing, calculating, social interaction, strong organizational skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision, high degree of problem solving and high level of interpersonal skills is required. Some travel, by vehicle, may be required to other locations. Work is routinely performed in a classroom environment.
