Project Overview:
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.
The Cheyenne CCGT project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.
Job Summary:
The Hydrotesting Field Superintendent is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of hydrotesting, pressure testing, flushing, reinstatement, and system turnover activities. The role provides leadership to field personnel and subcontractors while coordinating with Construction, Quality, and Commissioning teams to achieve project completion and startup objectives.#LI-SP1
Major Responsibilities:
Major Responsibilities
- Lead hydrotesting crews and subcontractors in the execution of testing activities.
- Coordinate hydrotesting schedules with Construction, Quality, and Commissioning teams.
- Ensure systems are mechanically complete and ready for testing.
- Manage manpower, equipment, temporary systems, and testing resources.
- Monitor testing progress and implement corrective actions to achieve schedule objectives.
- Direct reinstatement activities following successful hydrotests.
- Support system turnover and commissioning readiness activities.
- Review and approve testing documentation and completion records.
- Promote the project's Zero Accident Philosophy and safe work practices.
Planning
- Develop and support hydrotesting execution plans, schedules, and resource forecasts.
- Coordinate testing priorities and system turnover milestones with Construction, Quality, and Commissioning teams.
- Identify and mitigate constraints impacting testing and startup activities.
Major Responsibilities(Contd.):
Safety / Quality Control
- Ensure hydrotesting activities are executed in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, and safety requirements.
- Verify test areas are properly controlled and all pressure-testing hazards are addressed.
- Support quality inspections, test acceptance, punch list resolution, and turnover requirements.
Technical
- Review hydrotest packages, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and testing procedures to verify system readiness.
- Provide field leadership and technical direction during hydrotesting and reinstatement activities.
- Coordinate resolution of field issues affecting testing, turnover, and commissioning activities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience supervising hydrotesting, pressure testing, flushing, reinstatement, and system turnover activities on large industrial or EPC projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction execution, testing safety requirements, resource management, and subcontractor coordination.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to coordinate Construction, Quality, and Commissioning teams to achieve project milestones.
- Previous Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) project experience is preferred.
