Job description

Position Overview:

This Engineering Professional position is for a Plant Engineer role in the Linde North Enclave and will be assigned as a Plant Engineer to the HyCO/CO2 production facilities in the Whiting, IN site producing hydrogen.

Reporting Relationships:

The successful candidate will report to the North Enclave Technical Manager and work closely with the North Enclave Operations Director, facility manager and staff to solve technical problems, deliver productivity savings, and sustain safe, reliable, low-cost production operations.   

The Plant Engineer's Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide technical support to plant operations and maintenance, and turnaround organization in the optimization of plant operations
  • Process safety stewardship in all aspects; Process Safety Information, Change Management, Hazard Analysis and abnormal situation management, etc.
  • Supporting safety and environmental compliance for assigned units
  • Delivery and support of initiatives to accomplish efficiency targets 
  • Delivery and support of cost saving initiatives to accomplish productivity targets
  • Active support and participation in driving reliability initiatives through root cause analysis, idea generation and small project execution.

Other Requirements Include:

  • Flexibility in work schedule to support operations during startup, shutdown or unplanned events.
  • Able to work in confined spaces and at elevated levels.
  • Able to travel in the North Enclave and to other HyCO/USIG plants up to 10% of the time

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
  • 3-5 years of related experience, with 1 or more years in Hydrogen, Carbon Monoxide and/or Carbon Dioxide manufacturing preferred.
  • Process Simulation Modeling Experience with UniSim, Aspen, or Hysis
