WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN


We have a great opportunity for a skilled Field Service Technician. The right candidate for this role will be a hands-on expert, who is confident with working independently to meet customer needs. The position requires high standards of safety performance while operating the company vehicle or performing maintenance at our sites. This role reports to and is supported by the Operations Manager.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Conduct preventive & predictive maintenance methods as directed.
  • Test and maintain the pressure and leaks on gas lines.
  • Purge and remedy leaks on high pressure lines.
  • Clean any and all necessary tubing.
  • Maintain a clean environment at each site.
  • Handle hazardous liquid chemicals and dispose of them properly as needed.
  • Calibrate instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot our True Zero brand gaseous and liquid hydrogen stations including compression, storage, and dispensing equipment.
  • General repair and maintenance.
  • Sample hydrogen gas for state regulations.
  • Perform required metrology testing.


Work with/on:

  • Low and medium (24VDC, 110 VAC, 480 VAC) voltage equipment, including motors, relays, compressors and PLC’s.
  • LH2 systems, including pumps.
  • High-pressure hydrogen gas lines (up to 15,000 psi).
  • Hydrogen Compressors - replace oil, valves, heads etc.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, including 4-20mA system, pressure transducers, valves, electronic and air operated valves, control valves, and PLC logic


Customer Interface:

  • Answer support service calls from customers.
  • Train customers on how to fuel 5k and 10k psi hydrogen vehicles.
  • Independently troubleshoot and remedy onsite equipment with possible customer observance.
  • Interact calmly and professionally with our customers as needs arise.
  • Document and maintain the tool and training records for optimal efficiency.
  • Oversee contractors to ensure all work is performed per customer and code specifications.
  • Assist company with various tasks to accomplish new or changing projects.
  • Utilize the FirstElement Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document and perform inventory transfers and work documentation.
  • Collaborate and aid the Commissioning Team when needs arise.
Requirements:

DESIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalency is preferred.
  • Previous experience with pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic, industrial gas equipment a plus.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand and hand power tools, commonly used with installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID’s and electrical schematics.
  • Capability to repair and problem solve mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Clean driving record – Technicians must pass the assigned Driver’s Course during the training period.
  • Willingness to be digitally savvy to perform projects and other day-to-day duties.
  • Candidate must be a champion for flexibility and change as key elements to supporting our customer needs successfully.


SCHEDULE + BENEFITS:

  • Travel Time: Field Service Technicians are provided work orders at the start of their daily shift and will spend 100% of their time out in the field.
  • Technicians will work a 10 hour shift four days a week with overtime as needed.
  • Field Service Technicians will use a company-issued hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle.
  • Occasional availability during off-hours for emergency customer operations support and vacation coverage.

The base hourly rate for this full-time position is $31.50 (south) and $33.50 (north) + benefits to start. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. All new Field Service Technicians start at base rate, eligible for advancement to FST 1 after 3 months provided introductory training has been satisfactorily completed. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only and do not include any bonus or benefits.
