Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

*This hybrid role offers the flexibility of remote work combined with the value of in-office collaboration.

JOB SUMMARY: 

This position is an integral part of a team that is responsible for the accurate and timely accounting/reporting of all retail revenues and account receivables. 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform activities associated with financial accounting for various key areas, including monthly journal entries, analysis of financial transactions and results, account reconciliations and other accounting duties as assigned.
  • Perform research and corrections for customer accounts to ensure accurate billing and General Ledger accounting.
  • Respond to audit data requests from internal and external parties.
  • Participate in the preparation of all required external reporting, including SEC 10Q/K filing support, FERC Form 1, PSC requests, and EIA reports.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, including compilation of control evidence.
  • Promote innovation, improve repetitive processes, and create efficiencies in a dynamic workflow environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or equivalent is required.
  • Advanced degree is a plus.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • 2 or more years of accounting experience is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to present financial information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in preparing journal entries and account reconciliations is preferred.
  • Strong Excel capabilities.
  • Knowledge of the utility industry and the FERC System of Accounts is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud is preferred.
  • Experience with CSS or similar Customer Service billing system is a plus.
  • Possess technical competence and analytical skills including problem solving and innovation.
  • Takes personal responsibility and ownership. 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with changing priorities.
  • Fosters relationships with peers, managers and customers and is a team player.
  • Proactively seeks enhancements to existing processes.
  • Effective time and project management skills.
