Job description



We are currently looking for Combo/Semi Vac Operators to join our Blackfoot, AB  Vertex Team. We are looking for someone local to the area. The schedules are mainly Monday to Friday with rotational on call work, every other weekend. 



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer and client satisfaction by providing excellent customer service at all times
  • Operate combo vacuum trucks or semi-vac units  for industrial cleaning and waste removal
  • Perform vacuuming of liquids, sludge, drilling fluids, and debris from tanks, pits, sumps, and vessels
  • Use high-pressure water systems to break up solids before vacuuming
  • Control vacuum hoses, boom systems, and valves safely during operations
  • Perform maintenance on units to ensure cleanliness and efficient operation
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork and documentation properly within set timelines; this includes daily logs, dispatch and trip reports and time sheets
  • Follow all local, provincial and federal compliance regulations and rules
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections, follow company policies and procedures for routine maintenance, perform general housekeeping to ensure units are operating properly and report any inefficiency to Supervisor
  • Safely observe all company operating guidelines and procedures
  • Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines


Candidate Qualifications 

  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license with a clean commercial abstract
  • Minimum 2 years of Combo Unit or Semi Vac operating experience
  • H2S Alive, First Aid, CSTS 20, CSO, Fall Protection and Confined Space Entry & Monitor 
  • ELD logbook experience 
  • Clean Drug & Alcohol Testing (Provided by Vertex)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to environmental compliance and safe work practices
  • Ability to work independently while managing time and productivity
  • Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned 
  • Integrity and reliability, willing to accept out of town work when applicable/necessary
  • Knowledge and experience in Pulp & Paper, Thermal and Oil & Gas considered an asset
