Job description

Join a team of passionate, creative professionals whose work makes an immediate impact by delivering solutions that protect people, property, and the environment. Otak is seeking a Hydraulics Project Engineer to join our Water and Natural Resources team in Oregon and Southwest Washington. In this role, you will support a variety of projects, including bridge and culvert hydraulics, floodplain permitting, stream, river, and estuary restoration, and barrier removal and fish passage projects.
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team that includes engineers, geomorphologists, landscape architects, and urban designers, you will help deliver sustainable solutions for public and private sector clients across the Pacific Northwest. Bring your expertise in hydraulic design and modeling to our dynamic, growing team!
How You'll Contribute:
  • Provide technical excellence and creative solutions in bridge hydraulics, scour countermeasure design, river mechanics, channel stability, sediment transport, and floodplain permitting.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Conduct design calculations.
  • Prepare construction documents in support of transportation and restoration projects.
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Create design and permitting reports.
  • Collect and analyze data.
  • Prepare studies and master plans.
  • Develop technical approaches, scopes, schedules, and budgets for proposals.
  • Perform construction engineering and observation.

The Strengths You Bring:
  • A Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with an emphasis on Water Resources or Hydraulic Engineering, or a similar discipline, is preferred.
  • 7-12 years of experience in hydraulic engineering.
  • A valid Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Expertise in water resources models such as HEC-RAS and SRH-2D.
  • Experience hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Ability to independently prioritize, manage, and deliver multiple projects with simultaneous deadlines in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salary Range: $113,000 - $155,000 per year
