Summary:

The Case Manager is a senior-level legal professional responsible for managing substantive and complex litigation matters under the supervision of attorneys. This individual serves as a central point of coordination across attorneys, clients, outside and opposing counsel, paralegals, case assistants, and vendors. The role combines sophisticated litigation support with team leadership, client interaction, budget management, and case operations, making it ideal for an experienced paralegal who has led complex, high-volume matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex cases and matters from both a factual and procedural perspective, ensuring systems and workflows effectively track all case activity

  • Serve as the central point of coordination for attorneys, clients, outside counsel, opposing counsel, paralegals, case assistants, and external vendors

  • Draft legal documents, correspondence, summaries, and other materials for attorney review

  • Manage and support complex product liability, mass tort, and class action matters

  • Prepare for and participate in document collections, witness interviews, hearings, depositions, trials, arbitrations, and mediations

  • Apply advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local rules, procedures, and court filing requirements

  • Act as a lead paralegal, overseeing and delegating work to paralegals and case assistants while coordinating projects with attorneys

  • Manage case staffing, outside vendor relationships, resources, and workflows to ensure work is completed efficiently and within budget

  • Develop and manage case and client budgets while monitoring resources and overall financial considerations

  • Oversee electronic case-management tools and systems used internally and with outside counsel and vendors

  • Develop checklists, tracking systems, and processes to improve efficiency across the practice group

  • Mentor associates and paralegals and provide training to legal teams and business professionals

  • Interact extensively with clients and frequently serve as a key point of contact

Desired Skills:

  • Extensive hands-on experience managing sophisticated litigation matters within a law firm environment

  • Strong background in product liability, mass torts, and class actions

  • Demonstrated experience preparing for depositions, hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, witness interviews, and document collections

  • Advanced understanding of federal, state, and local court rules and electronic and hard-copy filing procedures

  • Proven ability to serve as a lead paralegal and oversee attorneys, paralegals, case assistants, vendors, and complex workflows

  • Strong client-facing experience, including interaction with clients, co-counsel, opposing counsel, and other external parties

  • Highly advanced technical skills with experience developing and maintaining case-management and tracking systems

  • Strong analytical skills with experience managing case budgets, staffing, and resources

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable working across multiple jurisdictions and time zones while managing a high volume of complex work

  • Independent, proactive, and able to balance sophisticated legal work with the operational and business needs of the practice

Education & Experience:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field

  • 10+ years of paralegal experience within a relevant practice group

  • Extensive experience with complex litigation, particularly product liability, mass tort, and class action matters

  • Prior experience acting as a lead paralegal or managing complex cases and legal teams strongly preferred

  • California-based paralegals must meet applicable California Paralegal requirements

Compensation & Schedule:
