Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and certified HVAC/Refrigeration Technician to oversee and maintain the HVAC, refrigeration, and general facilities operations for our Del Taco restaurant locations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring all heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems operate efficiently while also handling general restaurant maintenance needs. This role is critical to maintaining optimal conditions for food safety, guest comfort, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
HVAC & Refrigeration Maintenance:
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems across multiple Del Tacorestaurant locations.
  • Diagnose, repair, and replace HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and exhaust systems.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations regarding air quality and refrigeration systems.
  • Monitor energy efficiency and recommend cost-saving measures.
Facilities Maintenance:
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of plumbing, electrical, and kitchen equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical, plumbing, and mechanical issues.
  • Maintain restaurant structures, including lighting, flooring, and general building upkeep.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for specialized repairs beyond in-house capabilities.
  • Utilize light knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems to assist in minor repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Handle all facilities maintenance requests and ensure professional and timely upkeep of all restaurant locations.
Emergency Response & Compliance:
  • Provide on-call support for emergency repairs as needed.
  • Ensure all repairs meet local, state, and federal safety standards.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs and service records.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and health department regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • HVAC/Refrigeration Certification (EPA 608 Certification required).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance, preferably in a restaurant or commercial setting, ideally within the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and time management abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures, including hot kitchens and walk-in freezers.
  • Ability to work on ladders, rooftops, and tight spaces.
  • Standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods.
