What's in it for you

Trane in Laval is seeking aTechnician Supervisorto join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising field-based HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) technicians who repair, retrofit and replace HVAC systems.

What you will do

  • Lead the training, coaching and development of HVAC technicians.
  • Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to HVAC technicians.
  • Ensure health and safety rules and requirements are applied on job sites and participate in the implementation of appropriate policies, procedures and training, including site audits.
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager and Health and Safety representative in the event of incidents or accidents.
  • Support the coordination, assignment and dispatch of HVAC technicians.
  • Work closely with the Service Manager and Project Administrator to assess job sites, anticipate challenges, gather materials and coordinate on-site work.
  • Act as Project Manager for small turnkey service projects.
  • Partner with other departments to improve processes and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure the quality of work performed by team technicians.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, and help ensure company vehicles remain in good condition through truck audits.
  • Support field technicians in the execution of mechanical and electrical work.
  • Serve as a direct point of contact for customers, respond to requests and special inquiries, and support team members with customer equipment repair needs.
  • Ensure compliance with internal documentation procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Help structure and organize the team's work, including service reports, expense reports, vehicle maintenance tracking, invoice copy submission and timesheet entry.
  • Support team members in the use of various technology tools such as XOi, Salesforce, Quick Quote, RMS, WebCATS and ComfortSite.
  • Provide recommendations to the Service Director regarding team member performance.
  • Be available to work overtime and/or weekends, as required.
  • Travel may be required, including occasional overnight stays.

What you will bring

  • Vocational diploma in refrigeration and air conditioning.
  • Valid Journeyperson Refrigeration licence.
  • Gas Appliance Technician Class 1 (TAG-1) certification is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of HVAC experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both French and English, verbally and in writing.
  • Strong technical background and demonstrated team leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to solve problems effectively and proactively.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and quality.
  • Practical knowledge of HVAC products, systems, electronics and controls.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence held for at least 12 months, with no infractions.

Additional requirements and environmental conditions

  • Must be able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, fall protection harness and safety boots to perform job duties safely.
  • Must be able to rotate the torso 90 degrees in each direction.
  • Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands.
  • Must be able to raise both hands above the head.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to use a ladder safely.
  • Must be able to access rooftops using extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15 to 20 feet.
  • This role may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, electrical hazards, loud operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions depending on the work location.
