About this Job
LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking highly skilled applicants for the position of HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic Foreman. This is work overseeing work by three HVAC/refrigeration mechanics, one operating engineer masters, two electricians, a plumber/pipefitter, a maintenance repairer 1/2 and contractors. Responsible for coordinating and supervising highly skilled work related to the preventive maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment. Demonstrates a strong focus on the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.Thank you for your interest in a career at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans. Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience or training in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems.

Job Duties and Other Information
  • Supervises/trains HVAC/refrigeration mechanics, operating engineer masters, electricians, a plumber/ pipefitter and a maintenance repairer 1/2
  • Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operational upkeep of buildings and facilities including HVAC/R systems
  • Diagnoses equipment issues, completes repairs, coordinates with vendors as needed
  • Maintains compliance with applicable safety and operational standards
  • Supervises and assists with (as needed) scheduled periodic preventive maintenance work
  • Prepares and submits work orders for repair work and completes close out documentation of the preventive maintenance work orders
    Follows up on contract work from beginning to end
  • Payroll time sheets; b) leave requests; c) discipline; d) counseling for both outstanding and poor job performance; e) performance reviews
  • Equipment operation and maintenance
    Takes immediate action to personally stop unsafe acts if delay to inform supervisor may allow accident to occur
  • Work orders; b) plan, price, and order materials; c) campus maintenance emergencies

Position-Specific Details:
No Civil Service Test Required.
Pre-employment Drug testing, Physical, and Criminal Background check are required.
Compensation: The starting rate of pay is $25.79 per hour and the 1st Quartile rate of pay is $30.95 with an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only. Rate of pay may be adjusted dependent upon applicants' experience and qualifications.

Hours of Operation: 8:00 am -4:30 pm
Appointment Type: Probational. This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months.
