Job description

HVAC-R Instructor| Teach. Mentor. Build Alaska's Next Generation of HVAC Professionals.

The Alaska Sheet Metal Workers LU 23, Alaska Metal & Mechanical Apprenticeship, is seeking a full-time Instructor for our HVAC-R Service Technician Apprenticeship.

We are interested in hiring a person who enjoys sharing their HVAC career knowledge, is genuine about helping others, and who would love to teach new and upcoming HVAC skills. If this describes you, please consider applying to become a part of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading lectures and lab activities utilizing the syllabus, equipment, and learning materials to give the best learning experience to our students in a hands-on environment

  • Support after-class student assistance as needed

  • Assessing skills and tracking grades and attendance in Total Track

  • Meet deadlines for grade submission and documented activities

  • Participate in lesson planning/curriculum review, professional development and In-service activities

  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and regulatory agencies

  • Attending classes on teaching and education practices

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Industry related experience in HVAC field

  • Minimum of high school diploma

  • Certificate or higher from HVAC postsecondary training program preferred

  • Proven group and one-on-one presentation, communication, and organization skills

  • Ability to sufficiently read, write, and speak the English language

  • EPA 608 certification required

  • Technical certifications such as NATE are a bonus

Hours and pay:

  • 12-month position.

  • $57.86 - $61.99/ hr. plus Local Union #23 benefits.

  • 7 am – 3:30 pm Monday – Friday.
