General Manager – HVAC & Plumbing

Howell Chase Heating & Air + Plumbing – Bluffton, SC

Position Summary

Howell Chase is seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our growing HVAC and Plumbing divisions in Bluffton, South Carolina. This leadership role is responsible for operational excellence, financial performance, team development, customer satisfaction, and long-term business growth across both residential and commercial service lines.

The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader with proven experience managing HVAC and/or plumbing service businesses, building high-performing teams, improving profitability, and driving accountability while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.

This role will oversee all departments including Service, Installation, Plumbing, HVAC Operations, Dispatch, Sales, and Office Administration while working closely with ownership to execute strategic initiatives and growth objectives. The position combines operational leadership, financial oversight, business development, and culture building into one high-impact role.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the HVAC and Plumbing divisions.

Oversee service, installation, maintenance, dispatch, sales, and office operations.

Develop and implement operational strategies that improve efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Work closely with department managers to ensure alignment with company goals and performance expectations.

Monitor operational KPIs and implement corrective actions when needed.

Financial Management

Manage company budgets, forecasting, and overall financial performance.

Maintain responsibility for P&L performance across HVAC and Plumbing operations.

Qualifications

Minimum 5–7 years of leadership experience in HVAC, Plumbing, or related home service industries.

Proven experience managing multi-department operations and teams.

Strong knowledge of HVAC and/or Plumbing service and installation operations.

Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and P&L responsibilities.

Demonstrated success improving operational performance and profitability.

Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.

Experience with Service Titan or similar CRM/service management software preferred.

Ability to lead in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
