HVAC Commercial Installer

Location: Tallahassee, FL
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Schedule: Day Shift | Field-Based

About the Role

A growing commercial mechanical and HVAC contractor is seeking an experienced HVAC Commercial Installer to support commercial and light commercial installation projects. This is a hands-on field role responsible for installing, replacing, retrofitting, and commissioning HVAC systems in commercial facilities.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with commercial HVAC equipment, ductwork, refrigerant piping, startup procedures, and retrofit projects. This position will also provide guidance to apprentices and junior installers while maintaining quality and safety standards on active jobsites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, replace, and retrofit commercial and light commercial HVAC systems
  • Install packaged units, split systems, rooftop units (RTUs), and related HVAC equipment
  • Perform ductwork installation, sheet metal fabrication, refrigerant piping, condensate piping, and gas piping work
  • Remove and replace existing HVAC equipment during retrofit projects
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and installation documents
  • Perform startup support, system testing, leak checks, and operational verification
  • Take field measurements and identify installation requirements or site conflicts
  • Troubleshoot and correct installation-related issues identified during startup
  • Maintain installation records, startup documentation, and project notes
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements and company quality standards
  • Mentor apprentices, helpers, and less experienced installers in the field
  • Coordinate effectively with project managers, customers, subcontractors, and other trades
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial HVAC installation experience
  • Experience installing and replacing commercial HVAC systems
  • Strong experience with:
    • Ductwork installation
    • Sheet metal fabrication
    • Refrigerant piping
    • Condensate piping
    • Equipment startup and testing
    • HVAC retrofit projects
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification (Required)
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
