Job description

Are you a skilled and motivated engineer passionate about automotive camera systems? We're seeking a Core Camera Systems Engineer to join our Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) team.

In this specialized role, you will be instrumental in defining, designing, documenting, and developing the core ADAS camera system elements. You'll work in close collaboration with our vehicle subsystem partners.

Leveraging your background in requirements management, systems engineering, ADAS software/hardware development, and specific experience with camera sensors in complex vehicle architectures, you will drive the technical direction for camera system integration, functionality, and performance.

This position demands a deep understanding of camera technology, coupled with strong engineering abilities. You will guide technical discussions, solve complex performance and integration problems, and collaborate effectively across various internal teams and external partners.

If you thrive on the technical challenges of automotive camera systems, enjoy leading initiatives, and are looking to grow your career within ADAS, this is a significant opportunity to shape the future of advanced camera systems that enable both machine vision and human vision features.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science and a minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience.

  • OR a minimum of 10 years of equivalent engineering experience without the specified degree.

  • Knowledge of software, hardware, and systems development.

  • Familiarity with overall vehicle Electrical/Electronic (E/E) architectures.

  • Experience in roles such as automotive systems engineer, vehicle architecture implementation, or product launch within a sensor system development context.

  • Experience working effectively in dynamic, crossfunctional environments, including collaboration with internal and external partners.

Even better, you may have...

  • 5+ years of direct experience within the ADAS domain.

  • Knowledge of ADAS software, hardware, and systems development, particularly in areas like camera image processing pipelines, camera perception, or sensor fusion.

  • Deep technical expertise in automotive camera systems, including a solid understanding of image sensors, optics, image signal processing (ISP), camera interfaces, and integration into vehicle Electrical/Electronic (E/E) architectures.

  • Proven systems engineering experience, with a strong focus on automotive camera systems or embedded vision systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical design reviews, discussions, and complex problemsolving sessions for ADAS systems.

  • Experience with automotive ADAS (SAE L0L3) features that heavily rely on camera input.

  • Excellent problemsolving skills, particularly for complex challenges related to advanced sensor system performance, quality, design, and integration.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and effective collaboration abilities.

  • Experience mentoring junior technical team members (formal or informal).

  • Proven drive to exceed quality metrics.

Technical Skills: Automotive Camera System Architecture Design, Image Sensor Technology, Optics Fundamentals, Image Processing Pipelines, Automotive Camera Integration (e.g., FPDLink, GMSL, Ethernet), Requirements Engineering, Modeling Tools, Magic Draw, Problem Diagnosis & Resolution, Technical Documentation, Familiarity with E/E Architectures.

Professional & Leadership Skills: Team Collaboration, Technical Leadership, CrossFunctional Communication, Stakeholder Management (including internal/external partners), Strategic Thinking, Decision Making, Mentoring, Adaptability, Planning & Organization.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder...or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:

Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage

Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more

Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more

Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases

Tuition assistance

Established and active employee resource groups

Paid time off for individual and team community service

A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day

Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.

This position is a range of salary grades 7-8 and ranges from $97,140-190,500.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
