About Acron Aviation (Avionics - Surveillance):
Acron Aviation designs, engineers, and manufactures certified avionics systems that support safety-critical flight operations across commercial and military aviation. Within Avionics, the Surveillance product line develops and sustains systems that enable aircraft awareness, collision avoidance, and airspace interoperability. Our portfolio includes TCAS, Mode S transponders, ADS-B, and integrated surveillance solutions deployed across commercial, military, and rotorcraft platforms. This work is performed in highly regulated environments and demands deep expertise across systems, hardware, software, and RF throughout the full product lifecycle.
Position Summary
Acron Aviation is seeking a Lead System Engineer to play a critical role in the design, implementation, introduction, and certification of a new surface alerting safety function. We are looking for a candidate that has strong project management skills and cutting-edge technical know-how. This role demands that you have the ability and desire to work with a variety of functions and teams to find solutions and then you must be comfortable implementing those solutions. You must be flexible and dynamic and proactively communicate with your co-workers, management and customers alike. Finally, you must excel in managing your own time and prioritizing multiple requests and demands, and you must thrive in an environment where you enjoy making contributions that positively impact the company's success.
Key Responsibilities
    • Developing new systems designs, writing systems specifications, and supporting development.
    • Developing system level architecture, creating and validating systems requirements, and support testing effort as needed.
    • Developing system test procedures and test scripts, execute these tests, analyze results.
    • Assisting with flight tests and analyzing results.
    • Interfacing with customers, suppliers and internal functional groups (software engineering, hardware engineering, project lead, program management, customer support, etc.).
    • Help maintain and develop engineering processes.
    • Assistance in the design, test and maintenance of all products.

Required Qualifications
    • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
    • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. Preferably in the avionics industry
    • Experience must include writing systems requirements and systems validation procedures
    • Extensive experience in systems engineering, MatLab, Simulink, Python.
    • Experience with programing languages C or C++ is welcomed.
    • Knowledge of ARP-4754A and DO-178 processes
    • Experience with avionics products (ACAS/TCAS/ACAS/ADS-B/SURF-A)

Preferred Additional Skills
    • Knowledge in ACAS or ADS-B functionality and associated applications that support
    • Good interpersonal skills and can work with multiple teams and be able to work directly with Acron customers
    • Demonstrates ability to take initiative to eliminate barriers and uses resources to ensure desired results
    • Ability to lead teams through conflict, clarify objectives and develop consensus and buy-in as required
    • Ability to see the big picture and advocates integration of systems within work group
    • Uses business knowledge to assist others in understanding business decisions and their impact
    • Fosters an environment that promotes creativity and innovation
    • Self-motivated with good communications skills
    • Able to work without appreciable management oversight and direction
