Their primary role is to gain practical experience by assisting professionals in helping individuals and families access resources, support, and care. Interns may engage in tasks like client intake, case management, program development, and outreach. This hands-on experience is often required for completing a degree in human services or related fields and helps prepare them for careers in social work, counseling, or advocacy.

What types of projects or tasks can a human service intern expect to be involved with during their internship?

As a Human Service Intern, you can expect to assist with a variety of tasks such as conducting client intake interviews, supporting case management activities, participating in community outreach, and helping organize workshops or group sessions. You may also have opportunities to shadow experienced professionals, attend staff meetings, and contribute to program development or evaluation. These experiences provide valuable exposure to direct client work and collaborative team environments, helping you build practical skills and a deeper understanding of the human services field.
