Job description

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, documentation, and troubleshooting of IT Infrastructure.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
  • Implement or execute new and/or current processes and procedures that aid in the efficiency of managing and expanding the IT Infrastructure.
  • Perform research, analysis, and implement software patches or hardware changes needed for any security or server related deficiencies.
  • Evaluate and tests new products, services, and internal tools.
  • Champion and drive the configuration and maintenance of mission-critical servers and services.
  • Monitor existing systems to ensure constant availability of IT services.
  • Provide support, mentorship and technical direction to IT administrators and IT support specialists
  • Ensure all IT services are properly maintained and upgraded, including anti-virus, backups, imaging, and patching.
  • Write custom scripts that reduce the need for human intervention.
  • Consistent use of independent discretion over matters of significance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential functions satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with Microsoft and Linux Server Technologies
  • Experience with VMWare or other Virtualization Environments
  • Experience in configuration and maintenance of services such as DHCP, DNS, web servers, load balancers, relational databases, and storage systems
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends and holidays and participate with on-call rotation. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends and holidays and participate with on-call rotation.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience coding in higher-level languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++, or Java)
    • Experience creating automated scripts and software
    • Experience with Database Administration
