JOB SUMMARY
As directed by the Foreman performs groundwork that is required to support crews involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of outside overhead and underground telecommunication lines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be Union eligible, must join Montana IBEW Local (under communication contract) prior to job offer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current Commercial Driver's License with valid medical exam card is required.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness and ability to obtain.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Works well in a group setting, able to follow directions when given.
  • May need to respond under stressful or urgent situations.
  • Awareness of all Safety regulations for Line Companies; knowledge of all Utility, N.E.S.C., DOT and OSHA Safety Rules.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Entry level position requires the willingness to learn to operate various types of heavy equipment as requested by the Foreman. Willingness to learn equipment operation as part of job progression.
  • Clears, sets up, and prepares work sites for aerial crews as directed by Foreman.
  • When directed by Foreman, practices barricading on public highways and public right-of-ways to include the use of warning signs, devices and flagging procedures.
  • Maintains and properly uses all tools assigned to him/her to ensure all are in proper working order at all times. May help to perform daily inspections on equipment including proper completion of forms.
  • Follows directions from Foreman.
  • Ensures company safety policies and procedures are followed. Responsible for knowledge of all safety regulations including all Utility, N.E.S.C, DOT, and OSHA Safety Rules.
  • Job may include travel throughout the state of Montana.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Wage is per the Montana Communications contract. IBEW Locals 206, 532, 768 | Pay Rate is $25.76
  • Benefits are tied to union membership.
  • Medical/Dental/Vision.
  • Retirement plan contribution of 6% of earnings. Retirement plan contribution is not a match contribution occurs in the absence of employee contribution to retirement plan.
