About E&E Foods

E&E Foods, Inc. is a vertically integrated primary producer and supplier of wild Alaskan finfish. The company owns and operates processing plants in Renton and Federal Way, Washington, and shore-side processing plants in Yakutat, Bristol Bay, and Kenai, Alaska.

The Kenai operation, Pacific Star Seafoods, employs approximately 40 year-round employees and expands to approximately 300 at peak season, including resident crew housed on site.

Position Summary

E&E Foods is seeking a Human Resources Manager for Pacific Star Seafoods in Kenai, Alaska. The Human Resources Manager is the on-site HR lead for the facility and owns the full employee lifecycle, from seasonal recruitment through separation.

This position carries real independent responsibility. The Manager runs seasonal hiring, handles employee relations matters and workplace investigations, administers benefits and leave, coordinates travel and company housing, and keeps the facility compliant with federal and State of Alaska employment law. Success in the role requires sound judgment, discretion with confidential information, and the flexibility to meet the demands of an operation whose schedule is driven by fish volume.

Key Responsibilities Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle for seasonal and year-round positions, from workforce planning and job postings through offer and start date.
  • Coordinate interviews, candidate communication, and pre-employment requirements.
  • Lead new-hire orientation and onboarding, ensuring I-9, W-4, and payroll documentation is completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain the applicant tracking system and all hiring records for the facility.
Employee Relations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and supervisors at the Kenai facility on all HR matters.
  • Receive, investigate, and resolve employee complaints; conduct workplace investigations and document findings and outcomes.
  • Advise supervisors on performance management, corrective action, and termination decisions, ensuring consistency and complete documentation.
  • Coordinate and book seasonal travel for arriving and departing employees.
  • Oversee company housing, including assignments, occupancy, and standards of conduct.
  • Partner with plant leadership to support a safe, respectful, and productive workplace.
Benefits, Payroll, and Compensation
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, and serve as the site contact for enrollment and employee questions.
  • Administer Alaska Paid Sick Leave, including accrual tracking, entry, and recordkeeping.
  • Process employment status changes, wage changes, and separations, and maintain accurate and confidential personnel files.
  • Support wage analysis and seasonal labor budgeting in coordination with corporate Human Resources.
Compliance and Documentation
  • Ensure compliance with federal, State of Alaska, and local employment law, including wage and hour, leave, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Maintain personnel records in accordance with company policy and legal retention requirements.
  • Prepare HR reporting and support internal audits, and agency inquiries.
  • Apply company policy consistently and distribute handbook and site procedure updates to employees and supervisors.
  • Support workers' compensation reporting and coordinate with Safety on incident documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and HR experience.
  • Minimum four years of progressively responsible HR experience, including direct experience with employee relations and workplace investigations.
  • Working knowledge of federal and Alaska employment law and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear and accurate documentation.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to live and work at the Kenai facility through the processing season, including extended hours and seven-day workweeks at peak.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience with Paylocity, ADP, or a comparable HRIS platform.
  • Prior HR experience in seafood processing, food manufacturing, agriculture, or another seasonal industry.
  • Experience supporting a remote or camp-based worksite.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, regular position that includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match after one year of employment
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Support for professional development and HR certification
  • Meals during season / seasonal travel
Work Environment and Location

This position is based at a seafood processing plant in Kenai, Alaska. On-site presence is required approximately nine months per year; the remainder of the year may be worked remotely. Peak season requires extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The Manager works primarily in an office setting but regularly enters an active production facility, with exposure to cold, wet, and noisy conditions, seafood and cleaning chemicals, and moving machinery. The role requires extended computer work, standing and walking on wet surfaces, use of stairs, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Required personal protective equipment is provided and must be worn in production areas.
