HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST

Advantech Industries Inc. is a family-owned manufacturing company based in Rochester, New York, specializing in CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly services. The company, founded in 2002, serves multiple industries, including defense, medical, and aerospace, and operates out of a 250,000-square-foot facility.


We are seeking a Human Resource Generalist to provide onsite support with daily HR operations for a family of manufacturing companies. This position will have a strong focus on recruiting and talent acquisition, labor and attendance administration, employee support, onboarding, and training coordination.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct recruitment efforts for various positions across the family of companies, including posting job ads through the Company's Applicant Tracking System and/or with other sources as needed, and maintaining accurate recruitment records.
  • Attend job fairs and assist in building relationships with local schools, training programs, and community organizations.
  • Provide applications to the hiring managers for review, assist with applicant prescreening, and schedule interviews.
  • Coordinate pre-employment activities including offers of employment, background checks, and other screenings.
  • Onboard new hires in ADP and complete new hire orientation.
  • Review and maintain employee labor hours within our ERP system.
  • Resolve labor issues, time variances, and attendance discrepancies.
  • Prepare reporting required for payroll processing, including tracking employee hours, leave of absence status, call ins, and PTO usage.
  • Initiate weekly payroll processing by uploading weekly hours and reconciling benefit deductions.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly production schedule, distribute to managers, and post throughout the facility. Update shifts in the ERP system based on the schedule.
  • Generate and distribute labor or attendance-related reports to management, as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact for routine employee concerns, assist employees with HR-related forms, system access, and other general inquiries.
  • Assist with management of employee leaves of absence, including tracking employee absences and maintaining related documentation.
  • Assist with new hire benefit enrollment and annual open enrollment activities.
  • Support employee relations initiatives and maintain positive working relationships across departments.
  • Collaborate with members of the HR team across affiliated companies on HR processes, projects, and initiatives.
  • Schedule and monitor completion of new hire, annual, and other safety and compliance trainings. Maintain employee training records.
  • Monitor company policies for compliance with ITAR.
  • Assist with company communications and distribution of employee materials.
  • Provide administrative support for HR projects and departmental initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must adapt easily to changing priorities, function well in a fast paced environment, and handle a high degree of confidential information.
  • Ability to understand business practices and human resources management, analyze problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Must possess strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state and federal labor regulations and agencies. Knowledge of payroll and benefits administration.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and coworkers and interact respectfully with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to speak in front of an audience.
  • Demonstrated effort toward self-improvement by gaining new knowledge/skills and accepting new assignments.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office, HRIS, ADP Workforce Now).
  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources, recruiting, or related experience required.
  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • PHR or SHRM certification is a plus.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

According to the New York Pay Transparency law, pay range for this job is $26.00 - $30.00 / hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
