Job description

SUMMARY The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a trusted advisor and thought partner who supports the delivery of all HR services to assigned client groups across the hospital system. Incumbents are responsible for providing expertise, support and advice on key business decisions, talent management and labor relations matters. The incumbent must have the ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and demonstrate business understanding to ensure an effective and collaborative strategic partnership.

Proactively assesses and anticipates HR related needs and seeks to develop integrated solutions. Maintains an effective level of business literacy about the assigned business area and its financials, plans, and culture.

Assists in driving HR strategy back to the business using a variety of data metrics, communication and influencing skills. Provides information and advice on employment laws, EEO/AA, legal matters, and labor relations. Provides advice, interpretation, and guidance on union collective bargaining agreements and human resource policies, philosophy, and practice to assigned client groups.

Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with line management to develop solutions, programs, and policies. Partners with client groups to improve working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Coaches managers and individual team members to ensure they and their teams are growing and meeting their individual and team objectives.

Works collaboratively with other Centers of Excellence and Training to effectively support the HR Service Delivery model. Provides consultation on system-wide and affiliate-specific human resources policies and practices to supervisors and managers. Coordinates and implements programs and services to consistently meet or exceed the clients' service needs.

Handles escalated employee relations matters working with internal partners and senior leaders to determine resolutions. Conducts investigations in a fair and unbiased manner, consistent with established policies and procedures. Participates and/or leads cross-functional workgroups and initiatives as assigned.

EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in human resource management, industrial relations, business administration or related field strongly preferred. Master's Degree also preferred. May substitute 15 years of directly related experience and PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification in lieu of degrees.

EXPERIENCE A minimum of five years managing complex employee relations issues with a working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines. Experience must demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills, investigatory techniques along with demonstrated abilities to effectively manage conflict in the workplace. Must be able to work independently with management on strategies and process improvement for assigned areas throughout the system, including multi-site responsibilities.

Independent ability to conceptualize, develop and affect problem resolution. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to manage a large scope of clients and prioritize work effectively.

Working in a union environment preferred. Must have strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment to effectively manage complex issues. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work is performed in a combination of typical hospital business office environment requiring walking, sitting and standing, home office work setting, and potential for presence in patient facing areas.
