Job Description:

The Strength and Conditioning Specialist designs, delivers, and evaluates evidencebased physical training programs to enhance strength, conditioning, injury resilience, and operational readiness. The SCS provides instruction on movement mechanics, oversees individualized and group training programs, collaborates with Human Performance teammates, and ensures safe returntoduty pathways for personnel recovering from injury. This role supports peak performance in variable training environments, including garrison, field, TDY/TAD, and deployed settings.

The Strength and Conditioning Specialist designs, delivers, and evaluates evidencebased physical training programs to enhance strength, conditioning, injury resilience, and operational readiness. The SCS provides instruction on movement mechanics, oversees individualized and group training programs, collaborates with Human Performance teammates, and ensures safe returntoduty pathways for personnel recovering from injury. This role supports peak performance in variable training environments, including garrison, field, TDY/TAD, and deployed settings.

HOW A STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Demonstrate and provide instruction and guidance on physical training, exercises, movements, and injury avoidance.
  • Design, administer, evaluate, and document the effects of physical training protocols for SOF personnel in garrison, TDY/TAD, or deployed, under the supervision of the POTFF or Physical domain Manager and/or Coordinator. All program designs shall be efficiently accomplished with rapid customization and dissemination to the end user, using process efficiencies wherever possible.
  • Coordinate training programs with the HP staff to ensure a safe and expeditious return to training of SOF personnel recovering from injury.
  • Refer all personnel with an apparent new or undiagnosed medical condition to a medical provider for evaluation and treatment.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Sports Medicine professionals and/or Bridge Coordinator to ensure a smooth transition from rehabilitation to performance-based activities.
  • Communicate and collaborate with cognitive performance and performance nutrition to ensure a holistic approach to human performance.
  • Assist the POTFF or Physical domain Manager and/or Coordinator in developing facility standard operating procedures, guidelines, and training protocols including the safe use of strength and conditioning equipment.
  • Ensure that equipment and facilities are properly cleaned, organized and utilized and are in safe working conditions.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in an accredited exercise science, health science, or physical education-related discipline and shall possess and maintain current certification by the NSCA as a CSCS or SCCC through CSCCA.
  • Minimum of two (2) years or more of demonstrable accumulated experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach with individual athletes and groups of athletes at the levels of NCAA Collegiate Division I, Olympic, professional sports, USAF CRAFT, USAF SWTW and/or SOF Operators in the accompanying, respective settings.
  • Current certification in basic CPR to include AED training.
  • Physically proficient to demonstrate all prescribed exercises / techniques and capable of meeting physical demands of training with SOF including the ability to hike over rough terrain, function in austere environments, and observe SOF training evolutions.

CLEARANCE: Secret or Top-Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain clearance.

LOCATION: Various OCONUS & CONUS SITES

This is a contingent posting, expected to start in 2027.

The likely salary range for this position is $63,312 - $85,658. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
