Description

Position Title: Marketing Intern

Reports to: Vice President of Human Resources

Classification: Hourly / Internship

Department: Marketing / Administration

The successful candidate will enjoy learning, working with others, and contributing ideas. This individual will be creative, organized, and eager to learn how marketing supports customer relationships, sales growth, and brand reputation in the lumber and building materials industry. Taking initiative, communicating effectively, and assisting with a variety of marketing projects are key to success in this role.

Purpose of Position: Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of marketing activities that support company growth, brand awareness, and customer engagement. The Marketing Intern will gain practical experience while supporting digital marketing, content creation, promotional efforts, and marketing organization.

Essential Functions of the Job (must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation):

Assist with social media management by helping create and schedule engaging posts.

Draft content for email newsletters, website updates, promotions, and in-store signage.

Assist with the creation and organization of marketing materials including flyers, promotions, and event announcements.

Help organize photos, marketing files, and content libraries.

Research ideas for promotions, community involvement, and marketing campaigns.

Assist with updating customer lists, databases, and marketing trackers.

Support marketing events such as open houses, contractor breakfasts, trade days, and community events.

Work with team members to understand how marketing supports sales and customer relationships.

Assist with supplier marketing programs and co-op marketing efforts.

Provide support for ongoing marketing projects and initiatives.

Assist supervisor and employees in other departments when needed.

Attend meetings, training sessions, and company events as required.

Work scheduled hours and comply with company attendance policies.

Observe and follow all company policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to organize tasks and manage multiple small projects.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Basic knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

Familiarity with basic office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Google Workspace.

Physical Requirements: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation):

Must occasionally be able to stand, walk, and move materials for events or displays.

Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 25 lbs occasionally.

Experience and Education Requirements:

Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a degree program in Marketing, Communications, Business, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or a related field.

Interest in marketing, business, customer engagement, or communications.

Previous internship or related experience is helpful but not required.

Work Conditions:

Primarily office-based work environment.

Occasional travel or work outside the office for events or promotional activities.

Work may include participation in company events or community activities.
