Position: Sr. Underwriter, Media E&O

Reporting to Regional Manager - Media

Location: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, West Hartford

The Role:

Hiscox USA is currently searching for a dynamic, engaging and solutions-oriented Sr. Underwriter to drive new business and underwrite complex renewal business within the Media E&O sector. This position provides a unique opportunity for a Media E&O specialist or a professional liability generalist to join a fast-paced, dynamic team to write policies tailored to the specific requirements of the Media sector. We specialize in advertising agencies, branding agencies, podcasts, YouTube channels, graphic designers, photographers, videographers, publishers, magazine periodicals, postproduction houses, animators, illustrators, marketing firms, consultants, public relation firms, DICE production, TV production and networks, influencers, and much more! Policies will be rooted in Media E&O, with cross-sold Tech, Cyber, GL, and other PL coverages offered for qualifying risks. Risks vary greatly in size and complexity (from start-ups to large, multinational entities). We provide an entrepreneurial climate that values and rewards thoughtful risk taking, excellence in execution and ownership in body of work.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Underwrite, price and negotiate accounts consistent with the quality of the risk and according to the company's strategy and guidelines for the product lines: https://www.hiscox.com/documents/brokers/media/105-media-liability-factsheet.pdf

  • Lead nationwide media E&O team in underwriting production

  • Develop new broker relationships and increase depth of existing broker relationships throughout region to increase production

  • Engage with the national media E&O team to learn and teach collaboratively

  • Maintain excellent customer service standards

  • Play a key role in executing on regional plan i.e. serving as relationship manager for several key media E&O brokers and spearheading broker turnarounds/remediation.

  • Obtain & maintain senior level underwriting authority in media E&O practice area and assume responsibility for taking underwriting referrals daily

  • Mentor & train junior media E&O teammates locally and nationally

  • Spearhead in office quoting days with top broker partners

  • Monitor product results and develop ideas to increase productivity and profitability

  • Consistently exceed minimum quote output numbers established by national media manager

  • At times, Regional travel required including industry events and broker visits

  • 5+ years of experience in Media E&O coverage; experience preferred

  • Team-oriented, ability to collaborate and desire to share information across divisions and teams to further the overall goals of the company

  • Outgoing, driven, high attention to detail and results focused mentality

  • The ability to identify business needs

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative environment

  • Innate service focus which enables one to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external customers and partners

  • B.A./B.S degree is preferred

  • Willingness to develop business, with travel throughout the U.S. up to 25%, required

Salary Range: $100-$130k

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
