Job description

CNC Turning Setup Specialist — Rockford, IL

Picture your first day: you clock in, open a fresh job packet, and walk to a clean bay where a CNC lathe awaits. You load the program, verify offsets, indicate the chuck, set tooling, and take your first cut. The part comes off within spec, and you feel that familiar satisfaction of tight tolerances met. That’s a typical day here—hands-on, precise, and supported by a team that values craftsmanship.

What you’ll do (a day in the life)
  • Set up and run CNC lathes and related machining equipment for new and repeat jobs.
  • Interpret blueprints, part drawings, and job routings to plan efficient setups.
  • Load, unload, and manage CNC programs; verify and adjust tool offsets as needed.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure part quality.
  • Flag production issues and suggest process improvements to elevate throughput and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot machine and production challenges to keep work flowing.
  • Handle routine maintenance and keep machines in top condition.
  • Maintain a safe, organized work area and assist teammates to hit production goals.
What you bring
  • High School Diploma (required).
  • 2–5+ years of CNC lathe experience (required); background with CNC Puma, Daewoo, and/or Mazak equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints (required).
  • Experience with Mastercam is highly preferred.
Compensation, schedule, and location
  • Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour, plus a 10% pay increase for 2nd shift.
  • Type: Full-Time, On-Site; 1st & 2nd Shift.
  • Location: Rockford, IL.
  • Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday – Friday, 4:30 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.
