Job description

Quality Control Inspector
At Chromalox, part of Spirax Group, we build advanced thermal technologies for the world's most challenging industrial heating applications. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we do it better and have been doing it longer than anyone else.
Chromalox started with an innovative solution 100 years ago when a self-taught engineer invented the first metal-sheathed resistance heating element. It was this then-advanced thermal technology that launched an entire industry.
That pioneering, innovative spirit continues today. Built on opportunity and innovation, Chromalox has grown to serve more global markets and industries. We excel in industries that have high expectations. We are acknowledged as experts at delivering solutions that exceed specifications, limit risk, and reduce operating costs.
Join us as we continue to provide solutions to our customers and the world!
The Role:
As a key member of the team, the Quality Assurance Inspector works closely with the Quality Manager to develop, implement, and sustain quality and continuous improvements throughout operations.
Our Quality Champions advocate and align with a specific focus on manufacturing processes and product acceptance through inspection and research of raw, in-process, and finished materials.
Additionally, you will play a key role in driving continuous improvement activities, ensuring that our processes and products always meet or exceed Chromalox, Customer, and other governing standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to regulate specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required.
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, or micrometers; verify the accuracy of test and inspection equipment or processes.
  • Report conditions requiring corrective action and recommend necessary disciplinary actions based on results.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance and ensure it conforms to specifications.
  • Generate certificates of conformance, inspection reports, and special inspection documentation.
  • Verify quality documentation is completed per drawing, work order, and special-order requirements.
  • Prepare and submit quality assurance documentation packages per customer or standard requirements.
  • Records test data and apply it to statistical quality control procedures.
  • Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into a database for the study.
  • Participates in review teams to reduce scrap and defects.
  • Recommends revisions and updates for standard operating procedures and work instructions as needed. Writes new operational procedures or work instructions as assigned.
  • Performs periodic product or process audits per standard procedures.

Required Experience:

  • Proven working experience with computer software applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven working experience with JD Edwards or similar systems and standard manufacturing processes.
  • Proven working experience in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions, and decimals.
  • Understanding of various measuring devices in meeting drawing dimensions and specifications.
