Job Description
Summary/objective
Buffalo Rock is an award-winning Pepsi and Keurig Dr Pepper bottler founded in Birmingham, AL more than 123 years ago. Buffalo Rock manages the best beverage portfolio in the country, which includes several beloved global and regional brands. The Warehouse System Operator is responsible for keeping a continuous flow of products through the merge diverts, verifying the correct product cases passing through the sequence checks, and solving alarms or jams across the conveyors. The Warehouse System Operator must be able to perform any Warehouse Picker 1, Warehouse Picker 2 and Warehouse Picker 3 job functions successfully and ensure the accuracy and completion of their work in a timely manner.
Essential functions

  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. Position is required to work all hours necessary to ensure operations function is fulfilled, including nights, weekends, holidays.
  • Understand the entire Vertique System process and product flow in order to troubleshoot and solve issues in a timely manner.
  • Oversee merge diverts and facilitate orders built through the Vertique System. Must be able to operate in a highly automated environment using a wide array of computers, software, and complex machines.
  • Operate the VertiView system to maintain the proper product flow, troubleshoot the product sequence at doghouse, and merge diverts through advanced problem-solving skills and logic that include simple data manipulation.
  • Continuously monitor the product flow using camera system and by walking through the conveyors lanes at the merge area looking for jams or other issues.
  • Pay attention to detail and differentiate between packages (full understanding of package dimensions, descriptions, SKU numbers).
  • Must properly handle packaged product, preventing any damage to the product.
  • Communicate with Shift Leads/Supervisor or warehouse picker operators via radio throughout shift about merge diverts status regarding product needs, incorrect/damaged cases, among others.
  • Identify needs and assist other areas when appropriate.
  • Move damaged products out of merge areas to the collection areas.
  • Recycle operations - Sort and dispose of damaged items in the respective recycle bins, segregating packing materials accordingly.

• Sanitation - Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area. The areas must be clean and always organized. Must be swept and clean of all trash and all debris. Trash must be dumped. In the case of any product spill, mop as needed to keep the floors clean and dry.
  • Use proper lifting techniques to avoid injuries and follow the BRC safety practices.
  • Make sound decisions and multitask simultaneously without constant supervision.

• Adhere to the established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Required to follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110. Requires participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes. Required to report potential issues related to Food Safety.
  • Other assigned duties as needed.

• All tasks within the warehouse are physically demanding and labor-intensive. Employees within this role are required to:
• Lift product up to 30 pounds on a repetitive basis per shift and up to 50 pounds intermittently throughout shift
• Periodic lifting above shoulder height
• Move and stack pallets weighing up to 65 pounds throughout shift.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, reach and climb up and down stairs throughout shift.
• Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth). Must be able to distinguish between red, green, and "off" lights.
• Ability to work in a fast paced and warm environment, especially during summer months.
• Sense of Sound - Hearing is required for the total workday.
