Job description

Job Summary:

Seeking a highly experienced Project Manager specializing in transmission and distribution to oversee large-scale electrical infrastructure projects. This role involves the management and coordination of projects related to transmission lines, substations, and distribution systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects for utilities such as Duke Energy, Florida Power Light and Light, OCU & WAPA.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage transmission line and substation projects, from initial planning through to successful completion.

Oversee the construction and upgrades of transmission lines, including reconductoring, structure replacements, and insulator and switchgear installations.

Manage the execution of ground-up construction for transmission lines and substations, including upgrades to breakers, transformers, and bus configurations.

Coordinate all project activities, including mobilization, logistics, material procurement, and subcontractor management.

Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and tracking systems for PO tracking, bid sheets, and timelines.

Collaborate with engineering teams to define project specifications, timelines, and deliverables.

Supervise project teams, including construction managers, coordinators, quality control specialists, and HSE coordinators.

Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring project goals align with client expectations and communicate project progress regularly.

Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and industry standards.

Monitor and mitigate project risks to ensure successful project delivery.

Required Qualifications:

Proven experience in project management within the energy sector, with a focus on transmission and distribution projects.

Demonstrated success in managing projects for utility companies such as Duke Energy, Florida Power and Light, and WAPA.

Experience managing projects involving transmission lines, substations, and distribution systems, including reconductoring, upgrades, and installations of various equipment (e.g., viper reclosers, switchgear).

Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and vendor coordination.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SharePoint, and project management software.

Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and resource optimization.

Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively lead teams, interact with clients, and ensure successful project completion.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Engineering Technology degree or equivalent experience.

Experience with SCADA communications and telecom equipment.

Familiarity with project specifications and regulations for transmission voltages between 230kV and 500kV.
