Activity Therapist Opportunity - Full Time

HRI Hospital is seeking an Activity Therapist for our inpatient psychiatric units. This is a highly satisfying opportunity for a clinical professional who thrives on providing highly individualized care to a very acute patient population. This is a full time, 40 hour per week position. HRI Hospital is a 66-bed psychiatric facility with adult inpatient services and several partial hospitalization programs. We are part of the largest private mental health system in Massachusetts and can therefore provide competitive salaries, benefits, and opportunities for growth and development. Employees are part of a multi-disciplinary team of dynamic professionals providing high quality care to a diverse inpatient and outpatient group of individuals. We are located in Brookline โ€“ right near Boston University and Coolidge Corner โ€“ and provide easy access to public transportation and free parking. As an Activity Therapist, you will:

  • Facilitate assigned treatment groups to meet the need of various functioning level and/or diagnostic categories
  • Utilize interviewing techniques, observations, formal and informal screening/evaluation tools to assess functional level of patients
  • Identify patients' assets and problem areas
  • Collaborate with patients in goal-setting
  • Collaborate with the inter-disciplinary team
  • Recommend appropriate activities for goal attainment and assist patients to select appropriate groups and activities
  • Complete daily notes for each group
  • If needed, help support the inpatient SW department with facilitating groups, complete clinical assessments, and discharge planning

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Education: Master's in human services related field required. Art Therapy, Music Therapy or other expressive therapy specialty preferred. OR Bachelor's degree + MT-BC
  • License: LCSW, LMHC, LICSW, or OT preferred
  • Experience: One year prior inpatient clinical experience preferred. Six months prior experience as a group leader preferred.
