Dexian Government Solutions. is recruiting for a Linux Systems Administrator to support our contract at the USAMRIID in Fort Detrick, MD.
Target Salary : $90,000.00
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Linux Systems Administrator to support mission-critical infrastructure at USAMRIID. This role requires a hands-on engineer with experience across Linux, virtualization, storage, and HPC environments who can operate independently with minimal ramp-up .
Job Duties:
Systems Administration & Infrastructure
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux (RHEL 7/8+) and Windows Server environments
  • Administer VMware/vCenter infrastructure ensuring 99.9% uptime
  • Perform system hardening, STIG compliance , and monthly patching across multiple networks (NIPR, RSN)
  • Monitor system health, logs, and security tools (e.g., Trellix/McAfee, ESS).

Enterprise Storage & Data Center Operations
  • Design, implement, and maintain SAN/NAS storage environments (file and block storage)
  • Administer enterprise storage platforms such as Dell Isilon (OneFS), ECS (Superna/Golden Copy), or similar Dell EMC Unity and Data Domain (IDPA).
  • Support backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Avamar, Veeam )
  • Utilize tools such as HPC (Bright), VxRail (VMware/Vcenter).

HPC (High Performance Computing) Environment
  • Administer and support HPC clusters , including compute nodes and head nodes
  • Manage job schedulers (e.g., SLURM, PBS) and cluster provisioning tools (e.g., Bright Cluster Manager)
  • Support and optimize parallel file systems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS)
  • Monitor and tune performance across HPC systems (CPU, memory, I/O, network)
  • Assist with installation and troubleshooting of scientific and bioinformatics applications
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for HPC operations and maintenance
  • Provide technical guidance on HPC architecture, performance, and future enhancements
  • Utilize HPC management tools like Bright and iDRAC.

Networking & Troubleshooting
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for network, server, and application issues
  • Resolve 80%+ of issues without escalation , demonstrating strong independent problem-solving
  • Support connectivity troubleshooting across enterprise environments

Active Directory & User Support
  • Manage Active Directory (users, groups, permissions) for large environments
  • Support DoD Enterprise Email and account-related issues

Cloud & Modernization
  • Support and execute migration of systems to DoD-approved cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government)
  • Maintain hybrid infrastructure between on-prem and cloud platforms

Monitoring & Tools
  • Utilize monitoring tools such as PRTG, SolarWinds, or equivalent
  • Ensure system availability, performance, and reliability across all platforms

Leadership & Collaboration
  • Contribute to task prioritization, status reporting, and operational planning
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders and cross-functional teams

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Linux system administration experience
  • Active Secret security clearance (required)
  • IAT II: CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of Linux OS, shell scripting, and command-line tools
  • Strong experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and troubleshooting
  • Ability to resolve issues independently with minimal escalation.
